The below list is assuming you already have the standard apps like WhatsApp, Google maps etc.
DHL-App for tracking all the packages and also all other DHL/Post related services.
An App which gives you official warnings about the bad weather and such.
Buchschrankfinder - A nice app to find where public book boxes are registered and placed.
Mundraub - A great app for finding wild fruits that can be harvested.
Parkopedia App helps you find and reserve parking spots all over Germany.
App for reducing food waste by offering discounted meals from restaurants and cafes.
Duolingo App - Language learning app with a focus on interactive exercises
Real estate and rental platform. Listings of apartments and houses for rent and sale, search filters, and contact information for landlords and agents.
Komoot App - an app great for checking and planning your hikes.
Nora App, it's the official emergency call app of the German federal states. It lets you contact the police, fire brigade and rescue service quickly and easily in an emergency from anywhere in Germany. It also let's you make calls without having to speak so it can be good in an emergency when your German isn't so good or you don't want to be heard making a call. It has a demo mode so you can see how it works before you're in an emergency.
Regenradar App - A really good and pretty much accurate app for checking if its going to Rain in the area of your interest.
Fax App - An app that you send Documents to and someone forwards it via fax machine 📠. If you want to contact Ausländerbehörde, it's your only chance.
Deustche Bahn App - Best platform for booking all your journeys via Train within Germany.
Doctolib App - One of the great apps to find and book appointments with Doctors in Germany. You can also check for Doctors speaking English and book accordingly.
Paypal App - Most people in Germany use this app to send and receive money from their friends and family. This would come in handy for sure.
Ebay Kleinanzeigen - An App to buy or sell everything used. Good companion of most students in Germany.
Lieferando - Food delivery App for ordering food in Germany.
Hostelworld App - if you plan on travelling, Hostelworld app has a bunch of offers on hostels around the world, and within the EU. It’s cheap, clean, and if you travel with friends you will get a private dorm for a slightly higher price.
Deepl App - Really great app for language translation. For sure better than Google translate ;)
TripTastic (iOS only): an audio guide for nearby points of interest. Perfect when discovering a city.
